You can tell within five minutes whether a CE course respects you or just needs you to stay awake. Most just need you to stay awake.
If you have sat through CE, you know the pattern. A slideshow, a few bullet points, a multiple choice quiz you can pass without reading, and a certificate at the end. You finish the hours, but you do not always finish with anything you will use on Monday morning.
We build the opposite of that. Every House of Hygiene course is an interactive, case-based game. You step into a real clinical encounter, meet a patient, make decisions, and see what happens. You learn the evidence behind each choice in the moment you need it, the same way you learn at the chair.
Who is behind this
The House of Hygiene was founded by Belinda Marsh, a registered dental hygienist, Idaho State University class of 2022, who has worked in private practice and now in public health at Peak Vista Community Health Centers in Colorado Springs. Here is the short version of why.
It started with a search. I wanted continuing education I would actually enjoy, and what I kept finding were PDFs, quizzes, and white screens with black text. So I tried going live instead.
It was not much better. One dentist made me feel stupid for asking a question. Another webinar taught information that was years out of date, presented as current evidence. A third spent more time plugging the sponsor than teaching anything.
Different failures, one root cause. None of them respected the hygienist taking the course. They wasted my intelligence, they wasted my time, and the outdated one quietly disrespected my patients too, because whatever I am taught is what I carry back to the chair.
So I got tired of searching for better and built it myself. CE designed by someone who has sat in that chair, knows the research, and refuses to waste your afternoon. That is the whole idea, and every case we publish has to earn it.

Our mission
To make continuing education that actually changes how you practice, that is built on evidence, and that treats you as the skilled clinician you are. We are starting with a small library of high-quality cases and growing it with you.
Our courses are offered for professional development and self-study, and do not currently carry formal CE credit. We have a national AGD PACE approval application in progress to award continuing education credit; until it is granted these courses are not accredited, and we will confirm credit status here once it is in place. In the meantime, we focus on practical, evidence-based learning you can use at the chair.
